An Art of our Time#1

Works form the Collection Lambert

5th november 2018 – 26 may 2019

“An Art of our Time#1” is a wide-ranging sensory presentation of the collection assembled by a key figure in the art world. The exhibition explores the artistic revolutions spawned in the 1960s and ‘70s in the United States and Europe, of which Yvon Lambert was one of the first and most ardent champions, and shows how these new ways of conceiving, making, and sharing art have informed artistic practices over the last 60 years. It also bears testimony to the vision of a collector with an acute eye for new movements and talents.

The Collection Lambert also boasts an array of highly coherent ensembles by each artist; indeed, in some cases, Avignon is the only place in France where so many works by the same artist can be admired. Sol LeWitt is a prime example, with more than thirty-five of the American artist’s creations – sculptures, works on paper, and Wall Drawings – on show this summer.

The new series of Cahiers de la Collection Lambert started with the focus on Sol LeWitt and the first issue was dedicated to him.
