Eva Jospin

Contre-Monde

July 1st – September 17th, 2023

The artist’s presence in the exhibition spaces of the Collection Lambert is part of the Ruinart Carte Blanche, hosted by the Avignon institution for the fourth year running. She succeeds Vik Muniz, David Shrigley and Jeppe Hein.

While monumental artworks by Eva Jospin are on display within the prestigious walls of the Palais des Papes, in dialogue with the Gothic history of the emblematic city location, a series of never-before-seen sculptures, drawings, embroideries and videos are on display in the light-filled white galleries of the Hôtel de Montfaucon.

Forests, caves, architectural follies and other marvellous decor seem to narrate the world from a space-time floating between past, present and future. As part of the Carte Blanche program, the artist also drew inspiration from the Champagne region’s landscapes and history. Memories accumulate in strata and mingle with visions of a present in which nature can only be envisioned as a projection of its memory.
