The unbearable Poet

Author: Cyrille Martinez

Adaptation and interpretation: François Sabourin

Duration: 55 min

From July 7 to 20 at 6:00 p.m. – No on July 11 and 18

For an hour, a contemporary poet tells his life in a dozen anecdotes, stories lived or reported by male or female friends. Stories of fiascos, misunderstandings, fleeting successes or disappointed friendships, questions of money and recognition. François Sabourin embodies this poet who seeks to understand poetry, how we live from it, how it works. He wonders what force pushes him to overcome frustrations, failures, betrayals, to still make poetry (that is, deviant literature). Today like yesterday, it is not an easy practice.

Minimal scenography, lightened staging effects, the adaptation is an edifying monologue recounting ten years of practicing poetry and literature: a direct address to the public with a few forays into the performance side.

A word that dances.

“A formidable, funny and moving show, like a satire on the world of culture, carried by a superb actor. A must see. “

William Marx, writer, professor at the Collège de France
