Young artists from the Beaux-Arts de Paris and the École supérieure d’art d’Avignon
December 3, 2017 – May 20, 2018
Since 2016 the Collection Lambert has been curating a unique project called ‘Rêvez!’ that is now part of the museum’s annual artistic programme to support young, newly graduated artists. If the first show paid homage to the seven art schools from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, this second show gives a free hand to two other schools, the Beaux-Arts de Paris and the École supérieure d’art d’Avignon. Naturally, Djamel Tatah, who has exhibited his recent works in the Hotel de Montfaucon and has been teaching at the Beaux-Arts de Paris since 2008, suggested to Collection Lambert Director Éric Mézil – and Jean-Marc Bustamante – Director of the Beaux-Arts de Paris – to include four other artist-teachers in this project. They each selected young graduates from their studios so they could exhibit at the Collection Lambert alongside other young artists from the Avignon art school. For his part, Éric Mézil has selected seven young artists who supported their degrees last June in the rooms of the Collection Lambert.
The Beaux-Arts de Paris, which has an editing department, suggested publishing a catalogue. It brings together works by young graduates with contributions from Jean-Marc Bustamante, Didier Semin – Director of Studies at the Beaux-Arts – and Éric Mézil who has teamed up with Cécile Cavagna – Head of Education Department at the École supérieure d’art d’Avignon.
