Monte di Pietà

Lorraine De Sagazan & Anouk Maugein

June 23, 2024 – September 1, 2024

Exhibition – Installation

The result of a collaboration between Lorraine de Sagazan and Anouk Maugein, “Monte di Pietà” lays bare the injustice and pain it inflicts. The director and scenographer have collected around two hundred objects for the occasion: these items are linked to traumatic memories of violence or crimes, yet their owners could not bring themselves to discard them. Tagged and catalogued, these objects accumulate in space to create a “sanctuary of sorrow”. The installation is activated by a poetic performance blending narratives and improvisation through texts by Laura Vazquez.
The exhibition “Monte di Pietà” is produced in collaboration with the Avignon Festival, in conjunction with Lorraine de Sagazan’s new show, “Léviathan”, from July 15 to 21, 2024 at the Gymnase du Lycée Aubane.

Performance

ON JULY 20 AND 21, BETWEEN 11 AM AND 4:30 PM, THE INSTALLATION IS ACTIVATED BY A POETIC PERFORMANCE MIXING NARRATIVES AND IMPROVISATION THROUGH TEXTS BY LAURA VAZQUEZ.
