Created in 2019 by the Collection Lambert and the French Ministry of National Education, the Micro-École Inspire is a program designed for upper primary school students (grades 4–5) at risk of dropping out. At the heart of the museum, children rediscover the joy of learning through a pedagogy rooted in art, artworks, and encounters with artists. As a pilot project, Inspire is intended to be rolled out to other cultural institutions across France and Europe.
The Ministry of National Education and the Collection Lambert, in collaboration with the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation and Télérama, invite you to an Art and Education professional day centered around the Micro-École Inspire.

This panel discussion will open the day by presenting the foundations of the micro-school initiative: its setup conditions, operation, key contributors, and the articulation between the Ministry of National Education and the museum, alongside its core pedagogical principles. It will also contextualize this experiment against other educational traditions to highlight its unique features. By combining theoretical approaches with on-the-ground experience, the discussion will explore what it means today to learn inside a museum, in direct contact with artworks.

The Inspire experiment highlights forms of success that go beyond academic achievements alone. How can we make visible the transformations that progressively shape the students’ journeys? Which indicators and methods should be deployed to better account for these experiences? The discussions will then explore the conditions for scaling up the program. What lessons can be drawn from the Inspire experience? Under what conditions can such a project be adapted to other contexts? How can we foster a European network grounded in field experience that promotes the sharing of practices and knowledge?
