The Collection Lambert, Avignon – Contemporary Art Center – was established at the initiative of art dealer and collector Yvon Lambert, who donated to the French State an exceptional ensemble of major works from the second half of the 20th century and the early 21st century. Housed in two magnificent 18th-century hôtels particuliers in the heart of Avignon, the Collection Lambert presents ambitious exhibitions alongside a strong cultural and educational programme.

Beyond its artistic programming, the centre is a key cultural actor in the region, whose engagement with social issues makes it a unique institution in France and Europe.

The Lithuanian Cultural Institute

The Lithuanian Cultural Institute, established in 2008, is an institution created by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania that constantly strengthens the role of Lithuanian culture in the world. The Institute promotes Lithuanian culture and professional art abroad in a targeted manner and increases opportunities on the international stage for cultural professionals and artists, as well as for specialists and organizations working in these fields.

A European Curatorial Residency Programme

In 2025, the Collection Lambert initiated a European curatorial residency program in the field of visual arts. Each year, a call for applications is addressed to curators from a European country. One curator is awarded a residency grant, during which they work on the development of an exhibition produced in collaboration with the Collection Lambert’s team and with the institution’s financial support.

The program aims to foster a European artistic network by creating links between artistic scenes across the European Union, and by strengthening cooperation between the various artistic stakeholders (artists, institutions, curators, etc.).

During the first edition, a collaboration with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation enabled a Portuguese curator to benefit from the Collection Lambert’s curatorial residency grant.

Residency Structure

The residency is organised in two phases:

• From summer to winter 2026, two to three research stays will take place at the Collection Lambert. These stays will alternate between meetings with local stakeholders (artists, professionals, institutions, etc.) and in-depth research on the Collection Lambert and its holdings.
• Following the residency period, the curator will conceive an exhibition, scheduled to open in 2027, with the intellectual, logistical and financial support of the host institution.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Applicants must:

• Be a curator residing and working in Lithuania, or be of Lithuanian nationality while residing and working abroad;
• Have been active on the Lithuanian art scene and collaborating with Lithuanian cultural organisations for at least three years;
• Demonstrate a proven ability and willingness to work collaboratively;
• Have a good command of English. Knowledge of French is considered an asset.

Residency Conditions

• Flat-rate fee (research and exhibition conception): €4,500
• Per diem allowances and accommodation costs (in accordance with the host institution’s regulations)
• Exhibition production budget: €30,000

Required Documents

• Curriculum vitae
• Statement of intent (maximum 2 pages). No specific exhibition project is required at this stage. The statement should outline the applicant’s curatorial research and explain how the international experience offered by the programme would contribute to the development of their career.
• Any additional documents deemed relevant by the applicant to support an understanding of their practice.

Application Timeline

• Mid-February: application deadline
• Late February: selection of a shortlist of four candidates
• Mid-March: final selection following interviews
• April: notification of results

Applications will be reviewed and selected by a committee of French and Lithuanian experts.

La Collection Lambert

La Collection Lambert, Avignon, Centre d’Art Contemporain d’Intérêt National, est née à l’initiative d’un marchand d’art et collectionneur, Yvon Lambert, qui a fait don à l’État d’un ensemble exceptionnel d’œuvres majeures de la seconde moitié du XX^e siècle et du début du XXI^e siècle. L’Institut Culturel Lituanien

L’institut Culturel Lituanien existe depuis 2008, est une institution créée par le Ministère de la Culture de la République de Lituanie qui renforce constamment le rôle de la culture lituanienne dans le monde. L’Institut présente de manière ciblée la culture et l’art professionnel lituaniens à l’étranger et accroît les opportunités sur la scène internationale pour les professionnels de la culture et les artistes, ainsi que pour les spécialistes et les organisations oeuvrant dans ces domaines.

Un programme européen de résidence curatoriale

En 2025, la Collection Lambert initie un programme européen de résidence curatoriale dans le champ des arts visuels. Chaque année un appel à candidature est lancé à destination des curateur·ices d’un pays européen.  Une bourse de résidence est accordée à l’un·e d’entre eux·elles au cours de laquelle iel travaille à la réalisation d’une exposition produite en collaboration avec les équipes de la Collection Lambert et avec le concours financier de l’institution.

Ce projet a pour vocation de développer un réseau artistique européen en créant des liens entre les scènes artistiques des différents pays de l’Union Européenne, en renforçant la coopération entre les différent·es acteur·ices artistiques (artistes, institutions, curateur·ices…) de ce territoire.

Lors de la première édition, une collaboration avec la fondation Calouste Gulbenkian a permis à un curateur portugais de bénéficier de la bourse de résidence curatoriale de la Collection Lambert.

La résidence est organisée en deux temps :

• De l’été à l’hiver 2026 sont organisés deux à trois séjours de recherche à la Collection Lambert.

Ils seront alternativement dédiés à la rencontre des acteur·ices du territoire (artistes, professionnel·es, institutions…) et à l’approfondissement des connaissances du·de la curateur·ice sur la Collection Lambert.

• À l’issue de ces moments de résidences, le·la curateur·ice conçoit une exposition dont l’inauguration est prévue en 2027, avec le concours intellectuel, logistique et financier de l’institution accueillante.

Conditions de candidature

Les candidat·e·s doivent :

• Être curateur·ice résidant et travaillant en Lituanie, ou de nationalité lituanienne résidant et travaillant à l’étranger ;
• Être actif·ve·s sur la scène artistique lituanienne et collaborer avec des organisations culturelles lituaniennes depuis au moins trois ans ;
• Faire preuve d’une capacité avérée et d’une volonté de travailler de manière collaborative ;
• Maîtriser la langue anglaise. La connaissance de la langue française constitue un atout.

Conditions de résidence

• Rémunération forfaitaire (recherche et conception de l’exposition) : 4 500 euros
• Indemnités de séjours et d’hébergement (cf règlementation de l’institution accueillante)
• Budget de production de l’exposition : 30 000 euros

• Note d’intention de 2 pages maximum. Aucun projet précis n’est requis à ce stade. La note informe sur les recherches menées par le·la curateurice et explique en quoi l’expérience internationale proposée par le programme permettra de déployer sa carrière.

Les Candidatures seront étudiées et sélectionnées par une commission d’expert·es français·es et lithuanien·nes.
